What to Expect
Enjoy a performance of classical music at St. George’s Basilica, the oldest church within the Prague Castle complex. Performed by the Prague Royal Orchestra, the reperoire of heavenly music by Czech and international composers, includes Smetana, Dvořák, Handel and others.

Formed of highly experienced musicians from The National Theatre, State Opera House, Czech Radio, Prague Symphony Orchestra and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Royal Orchestra will be conducted by Jaroslav Vodnansky, and the concert features the soprano soloist, Libuše Moravcová Myřátská.

Founded by Prince Vratislav I in 920 AD, St. George's Basilica was orginally the 2nd church of Prague Castle. Its Romanesque appearance dates from the time of the reconstruction after the devastating fire of 1142. A chapel consecrated to St. Ludmila was added in the 13th century, while the Baroque Chapel of St. John Nepomuk was built in the 18th century.

Now considered one of the finest Romanesque churches in Prague, the deep dark wood and decorative windows add immeasurably to the atmosphere of the concert.
