On this 2-day tour from Prague, you’ll discover UNESCO World Heritage Sites that include the historical district in Kutná Hora, the cathedrals and ossuary in Sedlec, the pilgrimage site in Zelená Hora, the castle in Žďár nad Sázavou, and more.
What to Expect
Enjoy 2 full days exploring historic sites in the Czech Republic on an excursion from Prague by comfortable, air-conditioned minivan.
The first stop on the itinerary is at the Sedlec ossuary, a chapel decorated almost entirely with human bones. The ossuary was constructed as a reminder of the fact that human life is transient and death permanent.
Next you’ll travel to the lovely town of Kutná Hora, where you’ll see St. Barbara’s Cathedral and the Church of St. Jacob. In this historic town you’ll also stop for a lunch of typical Czech cuisine, before moving on to Zelená Hora, which is best known for the pilgrimage Church of St. Jan of Nepomuk.
The final stop on the first day is Ždár nad Sázavou, where you’ll learn about the Cistercian monks and visit the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas. Spend the night in a charming guest house.
On the second day you’ll visit the city of Třebíč, which was an important center of Jewish culture in Moravia. Stop here for lunch before moving on to Telč, where you’ll admire its beautiful buildings and then return to Prague in the evening.
