Explore one of the most beautiful parks of the Czech Republic on a 2-day tour of the Czech Switzerland National Park from Prague, and see the stunning gate of Pravčická Brána. Climb to Šaunštejn rock castle, sail down the Kamenice River, and much more.
What to Expect
Experience the natural beauty of Bohemia on a 2-day tour to the Czech Switzerland National Park, also known as the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, and experience the dramatic ravines, rock formations and cliffside towns of one of the country’s most beautiful regions.
Following a pick-up from your hotel at around 08:30, transfer through beautiful Bohemian countryside to Czech Switzerland in northern Bohemia. Declared a national park in 2000 for its unique sandstone formations and related habitat, the park is part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains that straddle the border of southeast Germany and the Czech Republic.
On arrival, go to the natural sandstone arch of Pravčická brána (Pravcice Gate), the most famous of the park’s rock formations of towers, gates, walls, ravines and mazes, all caused by the erosion of cretaceous marine sediments from the Pleistocene Era.
Next, enjoy lunch in the small castle of Sokolí hnízdo (Falcon’s Nest). Then, spend the afternoon exploring the rest of the rock-cut towns in the region, before checking into a guesthouse. Before you retire for the night, go to see the magnificent cliff side castle of Šaunštejn and the Malá Pravčická Brána (Little Pravcice Gate) rock formation.
Enjoy breakfast at the guesthouse, before cruising by boat through the narrow passes and ravines of the Kamenice River. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant that was founded in 1890. After lunch, take a tour of the small village of Hřensko, located at the confluence of the Kamenice and Labe rivers. Transfer back to Prague in the afternoon, with an expected drop off at 18:00.
