From Uyuni: Salt Flats Highlights Jeep Tour with Lunch

Explore the famous Uyuni Salt Flats on a Jeep tour from Uyuni. Ride along the expansive salt flats, visit the abandoned trains at the train cemetery, and see a hotel made entirely of salt, and more en route. Enjoy a local lunch, too. After your hotel pickup, head out to the iconic train cemetery, where all trains ended up once the local railroad company went out of business. Walk in and out of abandoned carriages, see leftover railroads, and more. Then, go to the town of Colchani on the outskirts of the salt flats. This small town survives from the sale of salt souvenirs and hand woven textiles. Locals also extract salt and process it for consumption - a process you can observe. Afterwards, enter the salt flats and drive towards the first salt hotel ever built. It no longer serves as a hotel but you can still see it standing proud, with its crystalline white walls, tables, and chairs - all made out of salt. Then, head to the Incahuasi, or Fish Island, where giant cacti grow up to 12 meters tall. Enjoy lunch here before trying your hand at snapping those iconic distance and size perception pictures on the salt flats. Finally, head back to Uyuni.

It no longer serves as a hotel but you can still see it standing proud, with its crystalline white walls, tables, and chairs - all made out of salt. Unforgettable Day Trip with Joker Experience – A Five-Star Adventure! Our day trip through the salt desert with Joker Experience deserves nothing less than an A+ rating! Chris, our driver, and Lily, our guide, gave us an incredible experience, showing and explaining the wonders of the salt desert. We had plenty of time to soak in the breathtaking scenery and capture stunning photos. Lily, with her creative touch, took beautiful shots of us—natural, funny, and far from the usual touristy poses. It was such a unique and personal touch to the day. The lunch, along with the wine and snacks at sunset, was prepared with so much love and care, making the experience even more special. Everything was perfectly organized, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore this magical place. The hotel Luna Salada is an amazing place to stay in Uyuni - fireplaces all over, clean, cozy and luxury in the middle of nowhere! Five stars for a day filled with memories that will last a lifetime

Our guide Adalid was awesome. He was knowledgeable and professional while guiding us all the way along the three-day tour. The nature in Balivia was intact and truly amazing. There wasn't too much infrastructure when we were there. Life there was very basic and simple. Temporarily experiencing the life style with the locals was pretty unique despite some inconvenience. Extra fees were needed (i.e. the entrance to the national park and the hot spring). I think it would be great if all the necessary costs were included in the tour rate; otherwise, it would be troublesome for those who did not have sufficient Bolivianos at hand. Anyways, it was a great experience and tour with our great guide Adalid! Muchas gracias!

Fully packed itinerary which was efficiently scheduled although not entirely in the order as described. Slow and uncommunicative start on the first day, and disorganised. However once the activity properly started, everything was fine-non-stop. We were served excellent food although, in some parts very traditional. Enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. However you will need a fair amount of cash, (especially for toilets and other commodities and entry’s to various destinations on the trip). We advise taking around 350 bolivianos. Hostel on the second night, was slightly unfinished, compared to the first hostel. However it was improved by the food & drink served Okey dokey karaoke!

Our guide Beimar was excellent. He was fluent in English & provided a really interesting & informative tour. He told us about the history & geography/ geology of the area including the salt plains, cacti & animals. He stopped several times to explain things & see the amazing views. He took time to help us take the fun photos & even made a great video of us all. We were served lunch & evening wine & snacks. All were really tasty. We learned a bit about local politics which was interesting. We went onto fish island & climbed to the top for amazing views. We also stopped at sunset to see yet more fantastic views. Such a fantastic day. Thank you Beimar.

We had a fantastic day with Beimer: a lot of information and explanation of the salar, a great host, enough time at each stop to explore, great host, lunch and cocktails were fabulous, and the sunset in the salar amazing - just speechless!
