  • Porto: River Douro 6 Bridges Cruise

    1. Porto: River Douro 6 Bridges Cruise

Enjoy a traditional “6 Bridges Cruise” along the River Douro and follow in the footsteps of the old wine merchants that transported wine from the valley to the wine cellars. Board the boat at Ribeira Quay and sail for 50 minutes along the river. Admire the beautiful landscapes and buildings of Ribeira and Vila Nova de Gaia from the water. Known as "Rabelo Boats," in reference to the old boats that transported wine from the Douro Valley, the cruise is the perfect chance to learn more about the historic bridges that connect Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Learn more about their construction and curiosities, and upon arrival at the last bridge, see the Foz do Douro where the river pours into the ocean.

It was really fun, the people were nice and we did not have to wakt long. There are 2 boats and one leaves every half hour. I would suggest taking one at 6 like we did, after the boatride we went for a hike to go up on one of the bridges and saw a beautiful sunset. We also had golden hour etc so we were really happy that we took the boat at 6. The people spoke excellent english! There is also a cable car ride by the boats. Wich is a really fun experience aswell!!

  • Porto: Douro River Sailing Boat Tour

    6. Porto: Douro River Sailing Boat Tour

Departing from the convenient meeting point in Douro Marina, you will being your trip sailing by the beautiful cityscape of Porto. Throughout the trip you will have the chance to see remarkable places such as Ponte da Arrábida, the old market (Alfandega), the Porto wine cellars, and the beautiful Ponte Luiz I. If you want you can also stop close to the Douro Ecological Reserve to enjoy the peace and quietness of this fantastic area. Alternatively, choose the sunset option to enjoy a magnificent boat tour combined with beautiful sunset views from the vantage point of the sea.

  • Aveiro: Half-Day Tour from Porto or Gaia with Cruise

    7. Aveiro: Half-Day Tour from Porto or Gaia with Cruise

Experience the beauty of Aveiro’s water channels, which are natural formations along the Portuguese coast. Traditionally connected to the river and to the sea, the city has been called the Venice of Portugal. You’ll feel the culture of this city that was once a fishing village, where residents made their living from the river, the sea, and salt production. The half-day tour begins at the fish market square, where you’ll have great views of the city center. Next you’ll head out on an hour’s cruise along the city’s beautiful water channels. Travel by a typical, yet unique boat called a moliceiro that is decorated with motifs related to the local culture. After the cruise your guide will show you the Costa Nova neighborhood that borders the sea. Admire some of the old traditional houses that are small in size, and painted in bright colors with vertical stripes.

Great if you're looking for a quick trip from Porto. You get to see Aveiro and Costa Nova. The tour is very quick, wish there was more time to spend in both places, you get about 15 minutes in Aveiro and 25 minutes in Costa Nova. It would have been nice to get at least an hour to explore in both places. My tour specifically was in three languages which was impressive, but also distracting since the tour guide had to constantly explain everything three times. Lastly, I've done similar tours where the guides volunteer to take photos to ensure you document your trip, however the tour guide was occupied translating in three different languages to offer this. Overall, I would recommend if you have limited time in Porto and want to quickly see Aveiro and Costa Nova. If you have more time, I would recommend checking these places on your own since they're are a quick train ride from Porto - it will allow you to spend time in each time and actually see what they have to offer.

Great skipper with lot of experience in sailing. His instructions while sailing were very clear. As a complete beginner, it was great to experience the whole process of getting the sails up - down and basic sailing maneuver like jibing. We first went towards porto old town and then into the ocean. The wind was 35 knots and the ocean had big waves but the skipper was really great in his maneuver and judgement.

The pickup place was easy to find, in the city centre. The trip by bus was comfortable. The entire trip was nicely organized, we saw many places, never waited in line, etc. Our guide, Marina was absolutely amazing! I will most definitely recommend this type of day trip to my friends

Beautiful day cruise, good food and great service. But it is a long day excursion.
