What to Expect
Meet your guide at the Carmo Church. From here walk through the historic center of the UNESCO World Heritage Site where your guide will discuss the tiles emblazoned across the area in all shapes, colors, styles and sizes. Feast your eyes closely upon these ornate works of art.
In the north there were huge factories that produced and exported beautiful tiles all over the world. Learn about their history, where they were made and the different techniques and applications used.
Visit the museum of tiles in Praça de Carlos Alberto, then your guide will take you to churches, depots, stores and the train station. You'll come across numerous other panels and friezes with astonishing patterns and learn some snippets about their history. The tour ends next to the Ribeira Square
