Explore the maritime traditions of Viana do Castelo and Vila do Conde on a full-day tour from Porto, and enjoy panoramic views of the sea and mountain from your minivan transportation.
Upon arrival at Viana do Castelo, you will explore the maritime characteristics of the Minho region, and visit the Costume Museum to see a collection from the entire north of Portugal. Enjoy some free time to walk in the city center, before driving to the Mountain of Santa Luzia, one of the most beautiful places in all Portugal. Go to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the mountain for phenomenal views of the city and sea.
Restore your energy at a local restaurant, known for its fresh grilled bream, bass, and sardines. Then, continue along the coastline, passing the small maritime town of Póvoa de Varzim en route to Vila do Conde.
Here, you will visit a typical Portuguese ship (“Nau Quinhentista”), used during the days of Portugal’s great discoveries, and now preserved in the city marina. Go to the Socorro Chapel and Monastery of Santa Clara, flanked by the 2nd largest Aqueduct in Portugal.
