What People Are Saying About Porto
The day was very well orgenaized. Amazing views and wine-testing! The guide, Cellia, was just wonderful - so nice, clear explanations! Highlly recommended :)
Positives: Great trip all in all, great guide, pick up from hotel is amazing, OK food but lots of it, lots of wine, great views and great information on the history and facts. Negatives: If you are hungover or easily susceptible to nausea the ride up is very curvy and may cause motion sickness. The vans have poor air conditioning and if you are not in the front seat it is extremely hot in the van and fairly uncomfortable ride.
Alex was a fantastic guide, and the duoro valley is not to be missed! The boat tour is a must, the lunch was rustic but lovely, and the wineries visited are a great example of the region. I highly recommend this tour!
This is a great trip to do before going to the port wine houses along Gaia. You get to see the valley by car and boat with stops in small villages. Ana was a wonderful guide who drove the windy narrow roads skilfully. You get to see the Duoro valley and gain a real appreciation of the area and history of the industry of port wines. Tastings were done in little private businesses with no rush or selling pressure. It is a long day with a lot of travel time but not noticeable when you have beautiful scenery and a guide explaining many points along the way. A great trip.
Despite the heavy rain all day we had a great Douro valley visit and Portwine tasting. We traveled in a group of seven and the guide Johanna spoke English and French fluently. The Portwine place (Euphemia) had not only great Portwines but also a very interesting tour of their family business wine factory and a spectacular valley view from their terrace.
