Discover picturesque places, immerse yourself in history, and experience Porto from a local's perspective on this tasting adventure tour. Visit some of the city's most popular taverns, markets, and cafes as you sample authentic local specialties.
What to Expect
Are you ready to eat your way through Porto? This historic city is famous for its gorgeous views and amazing scenery, but it's also at the very heart of Portugal's delicious culinary traditions. Explore the best of Porto’s famous sights while sampling some of its best bites. Stop at lookout points over the Douro river, and visit the city's most popular taverns, markets, and cafes.
Begin this Porto food tour with a typically Portuguese habit: a coffee accompanied by a pastel de Nata (egg tart pastry), in a cafe that is more than 200 years old. From there, taste and talk about the 1001 ways to prepare codfish, discuss the influence of former colonies in culture and cuisine, learn about Portugal's most famous navigators, and the tragedies of the Douro River.
Along the way you’ll sample local liquors and a few authentic local specialties like codfish or tripe, Porto-style. Then, try out Porto's most iconic dish of all, the Francesinha sandwich. Even though these are sold all over Porto, we’ll show you the best place in the city to get it.
Finally, finish off the tour with a toast with the city's most famous export of all, delicious Port wine!
