What to Expect
This half-day tour is the perfect way of visiting not only the city center but also the surrounding places of Porto. On this tour you explore the most significant spots around the city and also the other side of the Douro River – Gaia. At the end of the tour you visit a wine cellar to taste the famous port wine.
After the pick-up, the van follows the “Foz do Rio Douro” (the river mouth) and Miragaia. Your first stop is at the Tram Museum, a museum that preserves copies of one of the oldest and most charismatic modes of transportation in the city.
Following along the river side you stop at Queijo Castle before heading towards Matosinhos, an area known for its fishing tradition. You then go up the Avenida da Boavista and stop to visit the Serralves Foundation. Afterwards you stop at Casa da Música (House of Music), a place with fantastic architecture, where you’ll explore the interior.
The tour continues through the Boavista roundabout towards Gaia. You’ll get out of the van in the city center and enjoy a walk through the most authentic places. You pass to the other side of the river by the Dom Luis Bridge towards the Gaia Quay, where the typical “rebelos” boats can be seen.
You then go up to a wine cellar where you can admire the most beautiful views over the city. Here you explore the interior of the cellar and enjoy tasting port wine. At the end of the tour you return to the initial pick-up point.
