Travel outside Portland to Willamette wine country and spend a day visiting a selection of wineries and tasting rooms in the area. Meet winemakers, tour 3 wineries, and taste fine wine while your guide gives you a lesson in viticulture.
What to Expect
In the past decade, Oregon has become a world-class wine state, with 15 approved winegrowing regions (AVAs) and more than 300 wineries producing 72 varieties. Get to know some of these wines with a full-day tour that takes you from Portland to the Willamette Valley, and visit some of the area's most acclaimed boutique wineries in an intimate and relaxed setting.
Learn about the rich ecology of the region as you travel through the valley, and at each stop, dig a little deeper to explore the local winemaking history, the fine art of viticulture, and Oregon's commitment to sustainable farming practices. You will also be treated to snacks and refreshments along the way.
At Red Ridge/Durant, taste wines made by the Durant family that has grown grapes for nearly 40 years. Then admire the lavender fields, olive groves, plant nursery, and breathtaking views. Continue to WillaKenzie, a winery known for its marine sedimentary soil, traditional, old world Burgundian style winemaking, and new world, Cascadian Pinot grapes.
Next, visit the Cathedral Ridge Tasting Room to taste a light and floral Pinot Gris and a dark and smoky Zinfandel, plus a few varieties in between. Finally, head to Rex Hill, where you can see the original tunnels which carted drying racks years ago, along with all the latest winemaking tools. Enjoy!
