Full description

Transport yourself back to Roman times on a guided tour of Pompeii led by an archeologist. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site for 2 hours with the help of your expert guide, who will take you around the city preserved by volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD. Choose the experience you would like to have, with the choice of either a shared small-group tour or a private tour for your and your group alone. Skip the line when you enter the city at Porta Marina Superiore, one of the ancient city’s 7 gates. Walk the main streets and wander around the Forum, the old heart of the city and the center of public life. From here you can see Mount Vesuvius overlooking the city. Discover highlights such as the basilica (business and legal center), thermal baths, temples, bakery and great Theater of Pompeii. Listen to interesting anecdotes from your archeological guide, who will tell you about people who lived in Pompeii.

Peek at plaster casts of those who were in the city at the time of the eruption. See well-maintained artworks, mosaics, and frescoes and travel back nearly 2000 years. Highlights include the House of the Vetti and the Lupanar Brothel.

Find out how this famous brothel got its name and see its preserved stone beds and frescoes. Get great tips from your guide at the end of the tour about how to spend the rest of your day, or even choose to stay inside the archeological site longer to explore on your own.

Get directions to the Sanctuary Dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the local cathedral that is located close to the excavation site. You can also get directed to the Amphitheater and Orto dei Fuggiaschi.

Our train from Roma to Napoli was delayed by an hour due to a train line fault. We informed Askos Tours and they patiently waited for us. Francesco was in touch with me via WhatsApp the whole journey and received us and bought us to the main group. Paula was our guide and she was very informative and answered all our questions. She knew every inch of Pompei and was able to describe in vivid details the life and times of the Pompei residents. She even stayed back to answer further questions and recommended good (non-touristy) restaurants for us. We were very impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. I will strongly recommend Paula and Askos Tours for your trip to Pompei.

I’m so glad we did this tour! The site is so big that’s it’s hard to know where to focus and what to see. Antonio was our guide and took us to see so many cool things and gave us all the little details that you wouldn’t otherwise learn wandering around on your own. The tour even went a little long because he wanted to show us examples of things we specifically asked about. I definitely recommend this tour!!!

This was easily the best day of our whole 10 day trip to Italy! Booking was super easy, with clear and detailed instructions to meet the guide. Our guide was Anna, who was brilliant and had endless knowledge and could answer any question. Unlike other tours we researched to pompei, the tour gave us such a vivid insight into Pompei but also gave us free time to explore on our own afterwards and being taken around by an actual archeologist was fascinating. A 10/10 recommendation for anyone visiting Pompeii!
