This excursion was a wonderful experience. We started with a comfortable private bus ride to Mount Vesuvius National Park. We had 2 hours to explore. It was a 25 minute hike up to the crater of Mt. Vesuvius. The hike was pretty steep but we took our time. The views of Naples and the coast were spectacular from the top. After this we took another bus ride to Herculaneum. It was a very interesting visit with a lot of history. Finally we took another ride to Pompeii. By this time we were pretty tired from the heat and all the walking. Pompeii is amazing. But we found it difficult to follow the map and the audio guide. Pompeii is a big city. We spent the majority of the time walking around empty buildings. I suggest asking an employee for directions to the exhibits. There are refreshing water fountains throughout Pompeii to refill water bottles. It was very hot and there is limited shade. We would love to go back just to do Pompeii due to its rich history. Overall, we had a great day!

All was well with one noted exception. The audio guide at Pompeii was missing several segments and the audio guide at Herculaneum was very difficult to match with no references to the homes.
