What People Are Saying About Pointe du Hoc
Important notes to take away from this trip: 1. Small group tour (there were only 6 of us in the group), very cosy and personal. Plus the guide and the driver a total of 8 pax. 2. Small bus tour (very convenient), pick up and drop off at the station Gare de Caen. Meet guide at the station meeting point with a placard bearing our full name. We took SNCF train fr Paris, Gare St Lazare. 3. No need to pay anything as everything has been included in the price of the tour, entrance to the museum Memorial de Caen, lunch, visits to the various locations. 4. Mdm. Rossy our guide is very knowledgable and she knew all the stuff and stories of all the places both in Caen Museum and Bayeux. 5. Lunch was a highlight in itself, we had confit de canard (very recommendable) plus a few other choices, wine, salad, dessert, mineral water, all are inclusive in the price. This is a very interesting tour and especially informative for those who are very keen to follow the path of allied forces during D-Day.
Our guide Laura was extremely knowledgeable, passionate and organised in her delivery of the information during the tour. It was very relative to each location and she gave plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions. The driver was also respectful and curteous, with an excellent drive to all the sites. A good experience that left us feeling pensive and humbled. Thank you.
I am sorry that I have forgotten my guides name but she was excellent. She was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate and helped me retrace the movements of my fathers regiment, the Canadian Scottish C Company. She did the tour in both languages and provided very touching insights. The museums were very well laid out. My lunch choice wasn't the best but the rest of the day was everything I had hoped for
