2. 5-Hour Private Peterhof Palace & Parks Tour

Take a scenic 5-hour tour of Peterhof Palace from St. Petersburg and admire exquisite Baroque and Rococo designs. Stroll through the landscaped parks of the Russian tsars of the 18th century. Known throughout the world as a jewel of Russian art, Peterhof Palace and gardens was laid out on the orders of Peter the Great. From its marble terrace, enjoy magnificent views over the Grand Cascade, made up of staggering waterfalls, no less than 64 fountains, and 37 elaborate statues. Encounter the chessboard Chess Mountain, fountains disguised as umbrellas, and a fountain that sprays anyone unlucky enough to step on a particular paving stone! For an added adrenaline kick, you can take a 45-minute round-trip speedboat ride, arriving in style, although perhaps not quite as dignified as the aristocrats of old!

Peterhof Palace and Gardens Half-Day Tour

3. Peterhof Palace and Gardens Half-Day Tour

Commissioned by Peter the Great, Peterhof is the oldest of the Imperial residences of Russia. Today it is a park complex that includes the principle palace and a number of smaller palaces. The main Palace itself is the unique product of two centuries of work. The original design was worked on by Peter himself and was designed with the Palace of Versailles in mind. Today the palace contains a remarkable collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture and much more. Rooms dating back to Peter’s time can be found alongside golden shining baroque halls and calm and austere rooms from the Classical period. Peterhof is often referred to as the Russian Versailles. The idea of creating a residence to rival the luxury of the French Kings was Peter’s ambition and he personally chose the site where several underground water springs were located. Thanks to these underground springs, the amazing garden complex surrounding Peterhof has over 100 beautiful fountains and four spectacular cascades, covering the gardens in summer with a refreshing cooling mist.

There are so many options of ways to get to Peterhof & tours to choose from, that I glad I chose a guided tour & travel by road to Peterhof; as there is so much more too see & be shown on the journey out through St Petersburg! Petershof, the palace & gardens are magnificent. The origin & history of Petershof is fascinating & then one needs to appreciate the restoration that has gone (been ongoing) after the Second World War, its a sobering but beautiful experience to be there “today”! My appreciation & thanks to all who have made this possible! My guide Valeria made the whole tour come to life with her insights, knowledge & passion of Petershof & St Petersburg. What a memorable & highly recommended tour & guide!

Best decision I have ever taken to do this tour with a guide. Andy, our tour guide, was a very professional knowledgeable person and we enjoyed every moment with him. He explained every detail in a unique engaged way which made us visualize and think of the history of Peterhof perfectly. I highly recommend to take this package because it includes variations of activities such as going to the palace by car and going back by a speed boat which gave us more attractions to see.

We took a sightseeing tour of Peterhofnpalace and gardens with GYG! Pardon me, but i have forgotten the name of our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and funny! She gave us just the right amount of insight about the Russian culture, and did not bombard us with a history lesson. All in all, it was a great experience. Much recommended!

Only the one in the tour do I got the best of everything My tour guide Yana is an exceptional one explaining the history, art, and philosophies of Russia in a very fun manner. She loves what she does and that makes the whole tour better! We had some awesome borscht too after the tour and Alexis the driver toured us around the city too.

Both guide and driver were very knowledgeable and helpful. Pick up and drop off were on time. The car was clean. The guide also explained the history of St. Petersburg as well as outer cities (on our way to the palaces). All in all, it was fun and informative.
