Absolutely fabulous... The mosaics in Pella are incredibly well preserved and are a sight to behold... The Vergina tombs are amazing, breathtaking. If you like history and archeology this is the place to be. It's not hard to catapult yourself 3000 years back in time and imagine what it was like back then. Our bus driver and "guide", a very jovial guy, who knew what he was talking about, was not allowed/could not guide us on the Pella site and also in Vergina because he does not have a license for this. Very unfortunate because he has a very large historical and archaeological knowledge. So we had to see the two sites without a guide...
Wonderful day trip in a minibus. There is nothing that our guide Lazarus doesn’t know about the history of Macedonia, all delivered with plenty of humour. Pella was a sizeable and fascinating site, with a good museum, but the highlight was undoubtedly the artefacts displayed in the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai (Vergina) – astonishing. And do ask to see the ancient theatre five minutes’ drive away. Overall, good value for money.
Excellent small group of only 7 plus guide. Everyone in the group were solo travellers, which was fantastic but probably not the norm. Our driver and guide Yannis (or Giannis? I don't know the exact spelling of his name) was great, very knowledgeable and gave general overviews and directions at the start each site.
Really amazing trip and guide very friendly and kind. Definitely would consider another trip with them in the future.
Our guide was very knowledgeable, fun and kind. Thank you for the great experience!
