Patras is the third largest city of Greece with a long history due to the strategic position in the middle of Mediterranean sea. On this private half day sightseeing tour you have the chance to discover the best highlights as well as a walking tour at the busy pedestrian zone of Patras city centre. The tour starts with a hotel pick up and short briefing according the schedule that will be attended. At ancient Olympia you will visit the temple of Zeus, the temple of Hera, the altar of Hera where the lighting of the Olympic torch takes place and the stadium, among other sites. You will also see the shrine of Pelops, the Council house where the athletes took the Olympic oath, the Treasury houses, the Gymnasium, and the Palestrae where they used to exercise for a month prior to the Games. Finally, you will reach the stadium, where the marble starting blocks are still in position. Visit the Archeological Museum, only a short walk from the Olympia site itself.
