Learn about the death of Robert-François Damiens, who tried to assassinate King Louis XV.

Then, explore the tiny streets of the best-preserved medieval area of Paris. Discover ancient churches and corbelled houses on narrow lanes. Hear how it is now the center of the gay scene in Paris and all of France.

Discover how a once sordid part of Paris became trendy and a shopping hub for fashionistas. Stop to sample a delicious macaron from one of the city’s most famous pastry chefs. Enter the heart of the Jewish community, and discover a vibrant pedestrianized street full of falafel stands and Jewish-influenced delis.

Feast on French charcuterie treats, including pâté, rillettes, and one of the best hams in France.

Go to Place des Vosges, former home of the French writer, Victor Hugo. From there, it’s a short walk to Place de la Bastille, site of the former prison that was captured on 14 July 1789, triggering the French Revolution.
