Full description
Enjoy a half-day trip to the former home of Claude Monet, one of the most famous painters of French Impressionism. Located in the tiny hamlet of Giverny on the banks of the River Seine, 50 miles west of Paris, the house and gardens were bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts by his son in 1966. They were opened as a public museum in 1980 following large-scale restoration work. Depending on the option you choose, your tour will either be guided, audio guided or at your own leisure.  Depart Paris and travel by comfortable air-conditioned coach. As there is no direct public transport to Giverny, this is the ideal way to get there. You will drive via the western districts of Paris and take the Normandy motorway as far as Bonnières. After crossing the River Seine at Vernon, continue to Giverny through the wooded plateaus of Eure. Giverny attracted several Impressionist painters in the 19th-Century, most following the lead of the movement’s founder, Claude Monet, who lived there for 43 years. During the tour, you will visit the Master’s house, where the spectacular colors and enchanting garden were designed like a work of art. Be dazzled by the flowerbeds and plants and get a sense of the artist’s feelings and inspirations as you stand in front of the famous water lilies and weeping willows in the delightful water garden.

The visit to Giverny was wonderful and greatly enhanced our appreciation of Monet. I would have given 5 stars, but there is one rather serious flaw in the whole process: the directions back to the bus are very poor. We were not given a map, and the village of Giverny does not clearly mark the way back to the bus parking. We were almost left behind. This part of the tour needs serious improvement.

Things are good. Thanks for the ride. A very beautiful village. And the museum is Monet's house. Beautiful garden. And the atmosphere. I got a lot of impressions and emotions. I recommend to everyone. The beauty of nature and flowers. The garden and pond are wonderful! The atmosphere inside the museum is great. A beautiful house with wonderful furniture, paintings, sculptures. Windows. Living rooms. Dishes. Armchairs. Sofas. curtains. A lot of rooms. There is a souvenir shop on site. There is a restaurant. Streets and houses. They are mesmerizing throughout. The pond from which Monet painted his paintings. And the bridge. And lilies. And I don’t know what to write anymore. There are 425 characters left. You cannot demand. From visitors to write such long reviews. Left. 340 Characters.

Nice trip overall. Gardens are very nice. So neat that you can walk around the pond and “see the real view”. Liked that you could actually walk through all the rooms in the house and not just peek in at the doorways. Could have use more time (like another hour) as we did not get to explore outside of the house and gardens with time allotted. Bus guide was rude with us when giving instructions. (While he may know the info and obviously repeats it daily, the visitors don’t know the layout and exits. Felt like we had been scolded before we even got off the bus.) Bus was clean and comfortable. Starting point was in a location convenient to restaurants so we had choices of places to eat when we returned.
