From Parga: Magical Meteora Tour

The Rocks between earth and sky. This trip will take you deep in mainland of Greece to the group of six medieval monasteries each one balanced precariously on rock pinnacles rising up from plain. In the 14th and 15th centuries monasteries were made as places of refuge in troubled times and access to them too was extremely difficult, requiring either long ladders lashed together or a windlass and rope pulling up net, for goods and humans. Things remained much the same until the 1920’s when steps were carved into the rock allowing for easier access. It is difficult to imagine how the monasteries were built on their pinnacles in the first place. There is definitely a very special energy in this place that brings a sense of peace and serenity. Meteora and the impressive monasteries are included in the UNESCO "World Heritage sites" list and without a doubt should be on everyone’s must see list when in Greece. Booking this tour allows you to simply relax and enjoy the ride instead of renting a car and trying to find your own way to Meteora.

Zagoria & Vikos Gorge from Parga

Zagoria & Vikos Gorge from Parga

Travel through wonderful scenery to the beautiful mountain villages of Zagoria and see the breathtaking Vikos Gorge. The stone-arched bridges that criss-cross the Zagori region played a vital role in linking communities. Today, many of these bridges, which date from the 18th and 19th centuries, can be seen from the modern roadside. Chance to get up close to some of the oldest and most impressive ones like Kokkori bridge, dating from 1750, which is backed by a pinnacle stack and spans a high arch above the Voidomatis river, and bridge of Kalogeriko, three-stringer bridge that was built in 1814. It is one of the few three-stringer bridge that exist which has given it particular fame. The bridge serve the residents of the two villages in their transportation and it is one of the most photographed bridges of Zagori. It will surely impress you. Visit to the Monodendri, one of the most beautiful Zagorian villages and enjoy a traditional lunch in the middle of the day. Near Monodendri, you will enjoy the walk to the abandoned monastery of Agia Paraskevi, built in 15th century, providing an impressive view of the entire village. These tiny sleepy villages nestle beneath pine-clad towering peaks, are made up of humble stone cottages and grand mansions that were once connected only by paths and old stone bridges. Admire the large Vikos Gorge and learn about its history from your guide

This was a fantastic trip from start to finish the care and attention from Yvonne was second to non she was amazing, this is the 3rd trip we had we Yvonne as our guide and she has so much interesting knowledge about all the places and also Greece in general from history to mythology, hearing about this on the coach journey was also great. The locations on this excursion were just amazing and the gorge you need to see with your own eyes to appreciate, the stop for lunch with traditional Greek food was lovely and relaxed. The night before the rain had brought some sand making the windows slightly dirty, this was even thought of and the windows were washed by the driver when we stopped so we could fully appreciate the views even more, what thoughtful and considerate action. The stone bridges again were something to see with your own eyes photos are great but don’t do it justice. Thank you for an amazing day with care and attention for all your guests.

A must do trip for those who wish to be emerged in nature, learn about Greek Epirotan history, and experience local culture and customs. Tour guide Yvonne is exceptional. Driver Alex is excellent. You are in great hands and will have a full day packed with little surprises. Tour was able to show other sites not on the official list. You will marvel at the Vikos Gorge, the world’s largest gorge, be amazed by the stone bridges, and appreciate the cultural treasures of the Monodendri village in the Zagori region.

This was a lovely trip to see the monasteries. Not usually my sort of thing but they are so impressive and it makes you wonder how they were built with none of today's machinery. Yvonne, our guide, was very knowledgable and kept us on track so we did not have to wait and queue for anything. George was our driver and did a fantastic job navigating the roads and traffic. Overall, a very good trip - thank you

It was a tiring, long journey, but definitely worth it!! Breathtaking surroundings, very impressive, all those beautiful rocks with the monasteries, very special. Good tour guide, nice and good explanation and certainly very friendly

An amazing and breathtaking excursion. With a top driver and guide Yvonne. You can/must experience this if you stay in Parga. The price for this day is a bargain. Top and top care.
