Drive through the tormented land of the San Andreas Fault on this essential 3-hour excursion from Palm Springs. On an iconic Big Red Jeep, you will learn about the geology, history and wildlife.
What to Expect
Located on the outskirts of Palm Springs, the San Andreas Fault is one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in California. This classic tour takes you to the heart of the Fault, where you will learn about the events that helped shape the twisted scene.
From a convenient departure in Palm Desert, you will set off to learn about the earthquakes that helped create the extraordinary labyrinth of cuts and canyons. Your expert driver and naturalist guide will explain the geology and history, while describing how Cahuilla Indians discovered how to use the desert’s plants for food, medicine, and shelter.
Explore a lush natural palm oasis where you will see water seeping up through the underground aquifer.
Visit a replica Cahuilla Village, situated on an historic Indian site. You will experience the awesome power of nature as you bump through narrow slot canyons that were created by the collision of the Pacific and North American plates.
As you learn about the wonder of nature, you might witness the spectacular transition from day to night as the sun sets and the faultline is bathed in a gorgeous palette of reds, yellows, and purple hues.
