Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles along the mangrove’s edge! After a short open water crossing, arrive at Frankland Islands National Park, your tropical destination for the day. A secluded and ancient marine environment, the Frankland Islands are home to thousands of plants and animals species, all waiting to be discovered. Spend 4.5 hours relaxing and exploring this secluded part of the Great Barrier Reef, that sees no more than 100 visitors each day. Snorkel straight from the pristine white sandy beach, where an expert marine naturalist guides you over colourful corals and tropical fish while explaining this unique and wonderful ecosystem. On the island, take part in our guided island walk, led by a resident Master Reef Guide or Marine Biologist, showcasing the amazing diversity of this protected national park. Following pick-up from your accommodation anywhere in Port Douglas, commencing at 8:30 AM, journey in a small group of only 12 guests for guaranteed personal service and entertaining commentary. Travel down the Captain Cook Highway, known as the second most scenic highway in Australia, and learn the history of the region, along with local issues and stories about the wildlife.  Arrive at beautiful Freshwater Station and board the historic Kuranda scenic railway. Then, head through the rainforest and take in a breathtaking scenery of waterfalls and 15 dramatic tunnels carved through the rocks. Upon arrival in Kuranda, explore the 'Village in the Rainforest', famous for its colorful arts and crafts markets, open every day. Browse the wide variety of Aboriginal artifacts, such as handmade leather goods, wood and jewelry. Stop at a café for lunch and listen to the busker, or try some local snacks such as macadamia nuts, honey, mango wine, homemade sweets or delicious homemade ice cream. Next, head up the coast to Palm Cove, where you will be taken along the palm-fringed esplanade. Then, stop for a drink of your choice and get some staggering views of the picturesque beach. Stroll amongst the stores and galleries, or take a walk along the beach and let the kids play in the playground. Return to Port Douglas with new friends and great memories, before getting dropped off at your accommodation or chosen restaurant on request.

Departing from your Cairns or Northern Beaches accommodation, head south to view the agile wallabies that live within the city limits. Make a second stop at the Cathedral Fig Tree, an 8,000-year-old Strangler fig with a giant root system. Enjoy an afternoon tea at the world-renowned Lake Barrine before walking through the rainforest. Keep your eyes out for musky rat-kangaroo, Boyd's forest dragon, rainforest birds, butterflies and flying foxes. After a quick stop at Lake Eacham, visit a private access platypus viewing area in Yungaburra for a 90% chance of seeing the unique mammal. Really enjoyed the day and the trip was a memorable one. The island has a lot of stunning views and the water was crystal clear. Snorkel safari was wonderful and it was a real joy to swim with beautiful fishes along the stunning reef. The tour operators were super friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. They are very passionate and have the willingness to show us the best of the island. Highly recommend this activity.

Absolutely amazing 8 hours. Karunda was beautiful. Great little markets and food. Train ride was terrific and plenty to see. Bus driver Chris was awesome! Well worth it. Great value.

Great way to see Kuranda. The guide was really informative and gave a great tip where to have lunch. Crocodile with green apple curry was great!

Paul of wait-a-while tour is an excellent guide. We managed to see all animals during the daytime and in the dark.
