After being picked up in a 4WD around 7:00 AM, make your way north along the Captain Cook Highway. Stop first at the Daintree Cruise Centre for a cup of coffee and biscuits before setting out to explore the Daintree River on a 1-hour guided cruise. During your cruise, you may spot estuarine crocodiles, from youngsters to massive 4-meter adults. Learn about the birds and wildlife that make this area their home. Then, make your way to the Alexandra Range Lookout, located in the heart of the rainforest, to enjoy spectacular views of the rainforest, the ocean, its surrounding reefs, and the majestic Daintree River. At the Jindalba boardwalk, you'll go on an informative 45-minute guided tour to experience the Park's beauty up close. See ancient 900-year-old palms, and keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Boyd’s Forest Dragon. Enjoy lunch at Lync Haven, an animal refuge, where you'll be treated to BBQ lunch steaks and tasty garden fresh salads, fish, or a vegetarian burger. After lunch, have a look at some of the animals here which include different species of python snakes and Boris the Estuarine Crocodile. As the day comes to the end, head back toward Cairns. You will be dropped off at your accommodations at around 6:30 PM.

Your naturalist guide will meet you at your accommodation and after introductions all round, you will ascend the McAllister Ranges and head west through Mareeba embarking on a remarkable journey back to prehistoric times, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. The first stop is for morning tea (tea, coffee and cakes or a sausage roll). From here you will travel through the back blocks of a wetland area viewing wallabies, emus and other wildlife and then along the irrigated agricultural paddocks of this fertile area, eventually crossing over the Great Divide and into the Western watershed. Travel through historical towns and rolling hills rich in minerals eventually giving way to towering limestone karsts scattered around Chillagoe.  Stop in Chillagoe for the National Parks Cave tour. The fossilized remains of the ancient coral reefs with hidden limestone labyrinths give a portal to a lost world just like the Great Barrier Reef. Millions of years in the making, the limestone formations are nothing short of spectacular. Then delve into the history of the copper smelters, whose old chimneys dominate the western horizon. Visit the remains of the once mighty smelters to ponder what it was like working there, then visit Aboriginal Rock Art. Afterwards, it’s time for an Aussie pub lunch.  After lunch and a visit to the local souvenir shop, head back towards the East coast, stopping at Granite Gorge where you can feed wallabies and hold other indigenous animals. The tour then returns down the range to Cairns.

Really enjoyed the day and the trip was a memorable one. The island has a lot of stunning views and the water was crystal clear. Snorkel safari was wonderful and it was a real joy to swim with beautiful fishes along the stunning reef. The tour operators were super friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. They are very passionate and have the willingness to show us the best of the island. Highly recommend this activity.
