What to Expect
Please note that every effort is made to provide the tour as described below, however the itinerary may change due to circumstances beyond our control.

Sicily has been home to so many diverse cultures over the centuries that visiting it can feel like peering through a window onto the world’s history. Arabs, Normans, Staufers, Greeks and the Spanish have all had their time in power.

One of the earliest settlers were the Elymians who are believed to have come from Anatolia and are descendants of the Trojans. Mythologies aside, these virtual indigenous Sicilians are the subjects of your private tour.

You will be met at Palermo cruise terminal by your driver/guide for the journey up Mount Eryx to Erice, a spectacular hill town with a network of atmospheric streets.

An important religious site, it soon became associated with the goddess Venus. Wander through its tangle of ancient streets and visit some of the cake shops, world-famous for their marzipan candies and delicacies such as almond and pistachio pastry. You'll be powerless to resist!

Then you will continue your exploration of the Elymians with a visit to Segesta, one of their most important cities it was destroyed by vandals hundreds of years ago. The ruins that remain include a well-preserved Doric temple and an impressive amphitheater. Situated in rolling countryside and with views stretching down to the sea, the view is truly spectacular.

At the end of your day, relax on your leisurely drive back to Palermo.

Know Before You Go
Information on your Driver-Escort:
We customized this transfer-tour using a Driver-Escort. A Driver-Escort is a chauffeur (or driver) specialized to drive you around our amazing island. He is able to provide basic historical information, he can show you the main highlights, and is very knowledgeable. Our Driver-Escort will take care to give adequate time at all stops and to accommodate special requests when possible, and will assure that your experience in Sicily will be both memorable and enjoyable.

The Driver-Escort is not a Licensed Tourist Guide (Licensed Tourist Guides are the only professionals - with a Regional license - permitted to conduct visits and tours in all sites and museums within a city) and he cannot escort you inside the monuments because this is not allowed by Italian Rules. If you would like a Licensed Tourist Guide you must pay a surcharge and we will arrange for a Licensed Guide to meet you directly on the spot.
