What to Expect
Visit the Anti-Mafia Museum and the small village of Corleone on this tour of Palermo, Sicily. Learn why local Sicilians hate the Mafia and how honest judges and police risk their lives trying to destroy the Mafia’s power. Begin in Palermo with a drive to the village of Corleone, the birthplace of the Mafia in the 1960s. Explore the village that houses some of the biggest Mafia families like the Clan dei Corleonesi.
Afterwards, drive back to Palermo to explore the lively Capo Market; a large open-air street market that captures the flavor of Palermo's Saracen Arab past. Capo is a lively blend of general confusion and vendors' stalls winding toward the old gate of what used to be the city wall. In the afternoon, take a trip to Piazza Pretoria and Via Maqueda, whose baroque palaces echo the Spanish rule in 1560. Finally, return to Palermo having seen another side to Sicily.
