Experience the beauty and history of New Zealand by land and air. While walking through the sand dunes of Te Paki is an intense first hand experience, seeing the white sand and clear water of Great Exibition from the sky is a sight you won't forget.
What to Expect
Salt Air’s “Cape Reinga Fly/Drive” ½ day tour is the alternative way to experience New Zealand’s beauty, history and scenery.
The initial stage of the tour consists of a flight up to Cape Reinga via Northlands spectacular harbors, such as the Whangaroa Harbor and the Rangaunu Harbor. We will also pass across some beautiful beaches such as Coopers Beach, Doubtless Bay and of course the famous Ninety Mile Beach. From Ninety Mile Beach we will fly inland to an airfield, only 20km from the Cape Reinga lighthouse.
After a 20 minute drive, we will reach the Cape Reinga Lighthouse where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. Our local guide will accompany you on a walk to the lighthouse, sharing the myths and legends of this very spiritual area. We will then rejoin the vehicle for a short drive to Tapotupotu Bay.
After a stroll on the beach, and a quick swim, we will move across to the Te Paki quicksand stream.
The return flight to the Bay of Islands takes place on some of the coast’s most spectacular coastal scenery. With its pure white silica sand and crystal clear water, Great Exhibition Bay is one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. The flight also passes across the Houhora Harbor, the Cavalli islands, Kauri Cliff’s golf course and the spectacular Bay of Islands.
