1. Medellín: Private Pablo Escobar and City Tour

Following your pick-up at your hotel at 9:00 am go to the metro station to take a smooth ride with pleasant views of the city, river and surrounding Andes Mountains and valley. Head to downtown Medellín to marvel at the magnificent sculptures by Fernando Botero. Take souvenir photos with the help of your guide. Then, continue on foot to experience the true vibe of the city and learn its rich history from your native English-speaking guide. Get information about the old colonial churches, city plazas and the Palace of Culture. Next, board the Metrocable for an aerial ride to Spain Library Park in Santo Domingo Savio. Donated by the King of Spain, the modern edifice provides breathtaking panoramas of the city. Continue to the picturesque town of Pueblito Paisa to discover what Medellín looked like in the past at a replica of an Antioquian settlement. Get more captivating views of the city from the top of Cerro Nutibara. Admire Pueblito Paisa's lovely church, charming museum, cute shops, and handicraft items for sale. Taste the succulent cuisines of Colombia during your lunch break, and sample savory dishes from the Paisa region in one of the many restaurants. End your Medellín experience by exploring the life and times of Pablo Escobar. Hear about real-life events involving the notorious drug lord, who went from being a common car thief to the second richest man during his lifetime (after the Sultan of Brunei). Revered by many as the "Colombian Robin Hood" for building hospitals, schools, churches, soccer fields and a barrio (neighborhood) for the underprivileged, he was equally hated by rivals such as the Cali cartel and "Los Pepes" ("Persecuted by Pablo Escobar"). Investigate the facts behind the myths and mixed messages from expert guides who will provide true information and some stories that you won't hear anywhere else. Learn the story in a non-biased manner so that you can formulate your own opinion. Then, benefit from a drop off at your hotel or accommodation at the end of the day.

Medellin: Pablo Escobar Tour by Ex-Cop

2. Medellin: Pablo Escobar Tour by Ex-Cop

Go on an exclusive four-hour tour with ex-police officer Carlos Palau who was involved in the SWAT operation that helped to track down Pablo Escobar. Get the hair-raising inside account of the Escobar days from one of the few remaining witnesses. Get picked up from your accommodation and head to the neighborhood of La Paz where Pablo spent his early days. Stop at La Cathedral and learn how Pablo cleverly negotiated the terms of his surrender to the Colombian government by building a deluxe prison for him and his gang which included a football field, jacuzzi, bar, and waterfall. Take in the spectacular city views from the location which today serves as a retirement community and lush natural reserve. Then head to the infamous Monaco building where Pablo's family and gang lived for a couple years alongside Medellin's elite before the detonation of the first car bomb in Colombia in the late 80s. Afterwards, visit the rooftop where Pablo was killed in late 1993 after 18 months of intensive pursuit. Draw your own conclusions regarding the circumstances of Pablo's death after hearing the amazing anecdotes by someone who participated in the manhunt. Finally, arrive at the cemetery where Pablo is buried along with his family, and ironically, much of the upper class society of his day. Hear about the end of the mafia days and the Medellin of the present that grown forth from its troubled past. Don't miss this firsthand account of the Escobar era and go on a tour that takes you beyond the Netflix series.

We had a fantastic day on this tour. Our guide Juan was brilliant. The history of Medellin is so interesting yet sad, but it is so amazing to see what a fantastic city it is now. Guatape is where I now want to retire. A really top tour fitting in so much in one day and we had the great knowledge and company of Juan to make it even better

We’ve had an amazing day with Daniela and Heime. Both are very nice, friendly and charming person. Daniela was an excellent guide with lots of knowledge and expertise. A guide with those 2 is a must when you’re traveling to Medellin! Thanks again for this awesome day!
