What to Expect
Included in this booking are entrance to the Chawton Jane Austen cottage, where Jane lived her final years plus a guided tour with Mr Darcy guide and entertainment over lunch or afternoon tea at Chawton House. Chawton House was the home of Jane Austen's brother and is now the library and conference centre for Jane Austen's works).
This Mr Darcy Tour is a bespoke guided tour and activity for anyone fascinated with the life and world of Jane Austen. Jane was born at a time of great social change and revolution in Europe. The world she was growing up in was changing and the position of a young educated woman like Jane offered few opportunities. You will visit the Chawton cottage where she finished her life and book to visit her brother's Chawton estate which is now a library and heritage center to Jane and her works. Besides private bespoke bookings which can be arranged to fit your requirements, your guide (Mr Darcy) is a former teacher who specialises in guiding educational student groups.
'Mr Darcy' lives in Oxford and can either meet you upon your arrival in Chawton to conduct a 2-hour plus guided tour and tea party, or alternatively if you prefer, you can contact Mr Darcy to request to book a half day or a full day excursion to include other associated destinations like Bath, Oxford or Winchester. Please submit a request for a quote for extended excursions. Mr Darcy can arrange for a carriage (a coach or minibus) to collect you and bring you to meet him too. Rates charged for any additional activities or transport arrangements beyond this advertised service, will depend on whether booking half day or full day activities and on where the guide meets you plus which additional destinations.

Know Before You Go
Your guide can either meet you in Chawton or collect you from London, Oxford, or Bath.
Rates will depend on whether or not you book a half-day or full-day excursion with or without 'carriage' to/from your pick-up point.
Don't worry, there is no dress code except for your guide, who dresses as befits a regency gentleman!
Please note that the Chawton Home and the Chawton House have limited opening times outside summer season, so it's recommended to book this tour on Tuesdays or on Thursdays from 13:00 till 16:00. December, January, and February have the most restricted opening times but when you book, if there are any issues around availability, then you will be refunded or alternative arrangements will be discussed.
