Kreuzberg: Walking Tour

1. Kreuzberg: Walking Tour

Discover the alternative side of Berlin on a walking tour through the multicultural and trendy Kreuzberg neighborhood. Learn the rich history of this area and see how different cultures collide to give Kreuzberg its unique charm. Follow your guide as they lead you on a historical walk from Platz der Luftbrücke, past the waterfall in Viktoriapark and through the residential area of western Kreuzberg. Walk by spectacular houses from the beginning of the last century and an imposing housing project referred to as the “Social Palace.” Continue past colorful Turkish markets, Arabic restaurants and bistros, and chic cafes and boutiques. See the heart of the former SO36 postal district, which is now considered Berlin's punk district. Listen and look as your guide points out the hidden treasures found along the route. Go through Heinrich-Platz and reach the Mariannenplatz where the impressive Bethanien building, a former hospital and now a public art space, is found. Next door in an area known as Rauchhaus, you will learn about Berlin's "squatters" history. Finally, walk to the Oberbaumbrücke, which symbolically links East and West Berlin and leads to the East Side Gallery.

Small Group Tour: "Wild Kreuzberg"

2. Small Group Tour: "Wild Kreuzberg"

Lose yourself in wild Kreuzberg on this walking tour. You will start at Kottbusser Tor, where everyday life meets Kreuzburg night culture. A Turkish market, Arabic restaurants and bistros, chic cafes alongside alternative clubs and bars line the square, which is divided down the middle by the famous overground rails of the U1 line. Walking past imposing houses from the beginning of the last century, and the Sozialpalast, you will reach the really happening Oranienstraße, the heart of the former SO36 postal district, as Berlin's punk district is still known. Here there are restaurants, bars and shops with typical Kreuzberg charm, the Berlin Home for the Blind, the Museum of Objects, Comic Shops and Boutiques. Over the Heinrich-Platz you will reach the Mariannenplatz, where the art-squat Bethanien, a former hospital, is to be found. Next-door in the Rauchhaus you will find more traces of the squatters' life of days gone by. Then walk to the Oberbaumbrücke, which symbolically links East and West Berlin and leads to the East Side Gallery.

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour.

There was nothing wrong with the tour my husband and I took part in. Our tour guide introduced the selected topic to us very individually without leaving the rough range of offers. Questions and interests of the participants were answered, answered and explained. In addition to other tours that we booked, it was the most beautiful tour and that was not due to the topic, but to our guide. Under the leadership of Markus Kohl we would like to conquer another part of the city on our next stay in Berlin. Thank you very much, kind regards Beate and Michael Gittel

Perfect itinerary through Kreutzberg!

The walking tour was very enjoyable and interesting! The neighborhood has so many secrets: history, facades, interesting bars, celebrities, markets and political activism. Markus is an amazing tour guide, he had answers to all of our questions. We were a small group of 4 walking through the neighborhood for three hours. We stopped for a rest at a famous covered market in the middle to rest a bit and grabbed something to eat and drink. Very relaxed, ideal to discovered Berlin, even as a local.

Very interesting information and insiders

Markus showed us the "wild" Kreuzberg in a very relaxed way. It was very interesting and exciting to listen to him. He is very curious himself and can tell many stories. We will definitely book a tour through him again.

Very interesting tour

Interesting tour of places you definitely haven't seen before. Definitely recommend it. Very professional guide.

This tour with Markus was also really great

Everything went great and Markus showed us cool places in Kreuzberg. Would love to go again anytime.
