Munich: Neuschwanstein Castle by Bus with Alpine Bike Ride
Enjoy a flexible full-day excursion by luxury coach to the beautiful Algäu region of South West Bavaria and visit the charming town of Hohenschwangau, near the Austrian border before touring the inside of Neuschwanstein Castle with our "Skip the Line" tickets you can buy directly from our Guide (not incl. and costs 26.50€pp in addition to the tour cost). It was near here that the extravagant King Ludwig II built his fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein shortly before he was arrested. In the morning, you will take a relaxing bike ride, cycling at an easy pace through alpine scenery and stopping at a refreshing lake for an invigorating swim. In the afternoon, you will walk the up the less-known path to Neuschwanstein Castle. Should the bus service be running, this is also an option to get up to Mary's Bridge (bus trip one way costs and additional 5€ pp). The Disney-like Neuschwanstein Castle was based on the Wartburg of Thuringia, which Wagner used as the setting for his opera “Tannhauser.” Learn about “Mad” Ludwig’s controversial life and mysterious death, before your luxury transfer back to Munich. Or you can stroll around Hohenschwangau Castle and stop for lunch in the village, at your leisure, or if you opt for the Alpine Bike Ride, the lunch stop will be at a local brewery overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle (not incl. in the price). Either way you will be able to sample some local beer and traditional Bavarian food. Should you choose not to do the Alpine Bike Ride, we will drop you off at Hohenschwangau Castle (a tour is an additional 26.50€) where you, after your tour and lunch at your own leisure, you will meet up with the rest of the group so you an all walk up together and do the tour as a group. Everyone exits the castle and will walk down the mountain and catch the bus back to Munich.
