What people are saying about Nisyros

Overall rating

4.3
(1,026 reviews)

The journey there and back is relaxed and as described. If you don't want to spend the whole journey in strong wind or blazing sun, you should be at the pier in good time before departure, as the ship is quite full. The island of Nisyros is definitely worth a visit and was one of the highlights of our Kos trip. Be sure to explore the Nikia and volcano spots on your own, ideally with a small, flexible quad or buggy, and avoid the bus tours. This way you can decide for yourself how much time you want to spend where and also relax on a picturesque viewing platform. And the car rental companies will be happy to tell you the bus routes. If you "circumvent" their schedule, you will sometimes have the spots to yourself.

The island and the volcano are definitely worth a visit. The ferry left Kardamena at 9:30 and there were even two options for the return journey (3:30 or 6:30 p.m.). Tip: don't book a bus in advance, but rather an off-road buggy. You can then explore independently of the flow of tourists. I saw the tip here in the app and was very grateful. The daily flat rate was €60 plus 10 liters of fuel. So it was totally fine. We had dinner in Pali, visited the fortress and the church above the volcano. Simply great!!!

A very nice boat with a friendly crew. The small snack at lunch was perfectly fine. The tour was well planned and really fun. Booking was also easy and everything was handled well. I would gladly go again.

Nisyros is worth a (half) day trip! We rented a buggy on site and explored the island on our own. I can only recommend it and would do it again and again.

A guide service could be added, because it was not included in our trip.
