From Cardiff: Caerleon, Tintern Abbey And THREE Castles Tour

3. From Cardiff: Caerleon, Tintern Abbey And THREE Castles Tour

The cost of this tour includes entry to all the locations visited. We will have an hour or more at each attraction with travelling time making up the rest of the nine hours. Our lunch location will be Tintern. Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre is our first stop. A fine example of a spot once used for combat and games and perhaps even is the fabled round table from the King Arthur legend. Chepstow Castle is magnificent. Once inside its walls, you'll feel yourself taken back in time and perhaps imagine being a Lord or Lady from times past. Tintern Abbey is glorious! Its ruins are testament to a troubled past but now, in the Wye Valley, it is quiet and contemplation that is most often experienced. Caerphilly Castle is quite remarkable! It has a leaning tower, just like Pisa. A rather fine example of a moated castle with much of its towers and walls intact. Castell Coch is our final destination and it's a beauty. Renovated by the Victorians, it is gorgeous both inside and out.

What people are saying about Newport, UK

We had a TERRIFIC trip with Riki, driving us thru' the Wye Valley, and sharing several great stops in the Brecon Beacons. Lunch at an old pub gave us both nourishment and nurture. Another highlight of the day was time to walk both in and around the church of St. Issui, and experiencing a sense of the holiness of the ages in the small sanctuary. In addition, we enjoyed walked through Tintern Abbey, which was known to us from the Wordsworth poem. Riki was right on time, at the appointed meeting place. He was personable, engaging, informative, and a fine day-long guide! Sadly, I mistakenly booked this trip for 4 persons, rather than 2, and did not realize it until after the cancellation date (actually, not until the night before our day out). I would love to have at least part of the extra $242 restored, but don't know how to appeal.

The guide Ricki was excellent. He was personable, knowledgeable and flexible. The tour covered key and interesting sites over a wide area and Riki’s patience, graciousness and good humour made the trip memorable. I’d suggest more time at Tintern Abbey and less at Becon cathedral. Many have seen cathedrals but Tintern is world renowned.

We had a great time with Riki. It was very informative . Riki was warm and a comedian as well. He paid attention to the needs of our elder companions. We would definitely recommend this tour especially with Riki. He’s the BEST! 👌

It was one of the best trips I have had in Wales. The guide was patient and knowledgable, too. He gave us plenty of time to explore each location.

Excellent Tour Rick our guide was great very knowledgeable about the area. We also had great weather which made it more enjoyable.
