9/11 Tribute Center:
Travel back in time to the terrible events of 11 September 2001 at the 9/11 Tribute Center, an initiative of the September 11th Families’ Association. Their goal is to help others understand the impact and loss of 9/11 while facilitating recovery. Each one of the 600 trained tour guides has a personal connection to the World Trade Center attacks. Some were fortunate enough to escape the collapsing buildings, others lost loved ones in the terrorist strikes, while still more were first responders, community members, and civilian volunteers in the aftermath of the destruction. Hear personal stories, and learn about the disastrous impact the events had on the World Trade Center community. Interact with a timeline of the attacks, and see videos and images of recovery efforts, and portraits of those lost on the day. Pause for reflection in the gallery of tributes from around the world that inspire peace and promote healing. Finally, see an inspiring mural of the changing Manhattan skyline that invokes hope for the future.
