Take a guided tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Wall Street, the Financial District and the 9/11 Memorial with a personal radio and headset to hear the guide speaking live.
What to Expect
Meet your guide just outside Battery Park and begin your visit with a short walk to the ferry and priority boarding for the ride to the Statue of Liberty. On Liberty Island go inside the Statue's pedestal and make a short visit to the Statue of Liberty Museum where your guide will provide a brief and entertaining history of the iconic lady. Then climb to the pedestal level observation deck for amazing photos and breathtaking views of New York Harbor and the NYC skyline from 10 stories high. Stop for a once-in-a-lifetime photo with Lady Liberty.
Next, board the ferry for Ellis Island where you will walk in the footsteps of millions of immigrants from the ferry dock to the Great Hall down the Stairs of Seperation and on to the Kissing Post. Your guide will share their stories and you will share in their hopes, fears, sadness and joy, and as you board the ferry to return to Manhattan, you will know how Ellis Island earned the nickname Island of Hope, Island of Tears.
Upon returning to Battery Park, take a break for lunch (not included), then head out on the afternoon portion of this walking tour to the World Trade Center where you will visit St Paul's Chapel, which stands just a block from the World Trade Center, yet somehow miraculously survived the September 11 attacks. Learn about its important role in the aftermath of the attacks, serving as the base of operations for rescue workers and volunteers in the months that followed.
Visit the 9/11 Memorial Plaza and take a moment to reflect beside the memorial pools. The guide will explain the full meaning and symbolic design to better appreciate the great care that went into creating the memorial that honors and remembers the victims. Visit the Fireman's Memorial and other remembrances in the area that many visitors miss on their own. Get an up-close look at the reconstruction of the World Trade Center and visit the Oculus, a 4 billion dollar structure and centerpiece of the World Trade Center transportation hub. See Fulton Center, New York's only fully digital subway station. As you see the World Trade Center from every angle, and from inside and out, your guide will show you how the buildings were designed to be a part of the 9/11 Memorial which stands at it's center.
