Full description
Discover the historic neighborhoods of New Orleans in a traditional mule-drawn carriage, taking in the vibrant history, culture, and architecture of the French Quarter. Relax and travel in style through some of the most exciting neighborhoods in America as you learn the basics of New Orleans history. Discover fascinating anecdotes about the people and places that have contributed to making New Orleans truly unique and unforgettable, all from your licensed local guide. Highlights of your tour in the French Quarter include Saint Louis Cathedral, Jackson Square, Napoleon House, the French Market, Bourbon Street and Royal Street. In addition, choose between either a walking tour of St Louis Cemetery #1 – the oldest above ground cemetery in New Orleans and home to the tomb of Voodoo priestess Marie Laveau – or a ride through the Faubourg Marigny with its unique southern colonial architecture and many live music venues. Group carriage tours travel at a leisurely pace and with small groups exceeding no more than 8 passengers per carriage. For a more exclusive experience you can reserve a private carriage which holds 1 to 4 passengers. Private Tours also give the option to tour either the Cemetery, or Faubourg Marigny. You can also rest easy in knowing that all of the mules receive at least 3-6 months of vacation per year on one of two lovely farms in the southern countryside.

Given that my husband and I were tourists, we got turned around a bit, as for the actual meeting place for the tour. However, once we received proper instructions, we were all set. The people of New Orleans are SO hospitable. Our tour guide, Virgil, was so delightfully friendly. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city, and exuded a fun, lighthearted personality throughout.

The highlight of our NOLA trip was our ride with Sarah and JellyRoll! We were running behind, thanks Uber, and they called to check on us and were kind enough to wait. We couldn’t go down JellyRoll and Sarah’s usual route, but he still did quite well considering. Sarah was incredibly great at giving us tons of great history on not only New Orleans, but the origins of many of the idiosyncrasies of its culture. Specifically, we thoroughly enjoyed the cemetery tour and the background of the burial process and heritage of those buried. We will absolutely do this again! Thanks Sarah!!

Our driver Mike was so knowledgeable and made the whole experience so special for us. We both felt that we learned a lot. Our mule, Professor Longhair, was adorable and did a great job! This tour was great for me because my feet were so sore from walking the streets of NOLA for several days. It allowed us to see a lot without having to walk too much. Also, glad that the cemetery was a part of the tour. 5 stars all around.
