Full description
Come and see enchanting scenery unfold before your eyes in a secret place full of history and atmosphere. This emotional journey conducts visitors through the new section of the underground of Naples. The Bourbon Tunnel was built in 1853 by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who, concerned about the outbreak of the rebellion, asked for an escape from the Royal Palace to the barrack in Via della Pace, now Via Morelli. The work was not completed and, during the Second World War, was used by residents of the area as a military hospital, later becoming the Hall Judicial Deposit. The war left its mark even in the subsoil where we find handwritten messages of wish and desolation of those who lived there. In the tunnels you will also find statues dating back to the fascist period and a unique exhibition of many cars and motorcycles, abandoned for years and then freed from piles of rubbish, arranged and illuminated ad hoc along the route.

Great tour through the Burbon tunnel system under the Chiaia district. The guides tell very vividly, also because they can pass on many experiences from contemporary witnesses. We found it very exciting and would recommend the tour to anyone who can walk and climb stairs! Our guide was called Sabrina and spoke English that was very easy to understand for us Germans!

From the discovery of the Naples of Ferdinando II the Bourbons and its underground project, to 'save' the skin from possible revolts of the Neapolitans, remained unfinished, to the use of the Neapolitans themselves to escape from the terror of the war and survive the bombings ... finds historians of all kinds, even smuggled .. the gallery told thanks to the skill of our guide Lorena. Interesting, to come back for the adventure path ... pages of history in the Neapolitan subsoil, which have so much to tell the world.

    Very Educational

Virginia was a terrific guide, answered all of everyone's question and she had a great sense of humor!! You shouldn't miss this tour, I would have never known this side of Naples, or the history that came with it! Take a light jacket, it's damp and a bit on the cool side. Oh, if you don't have a good GPS, make sure and ask directions on how to return where you began, as the end of the tour is not where you started. If you are elder and have a difficult time with stairs, this tour is not for you, as there are abut 100 steps and much higher than a normal step, easy to lose your balance. Very enjoyable tour, I can't imagine so many people fitting there during the war, or living there.
