Visit the stunning remains of Pompeii and the brooding volcano that destroyed it on a full-day tour designed for families. You will also see the beautiful town of Sorrento on the glittering Amalfi Coast.
What to Expect
This excursion is specifically designed for the entire family. Though suitable for all, this tour is highly recommended for parents who are eager to get their children interested and involved in the art, architecture and culture of Italy.
Start the day by being greeted at the Port of Naples. From the port, make your way to the archeological site of Pompeii, the ancient city whose ruins were preserved by a devastating volcanic eruption in 79 AD.
Spend the morning exploring Pompeii, which is one of the most-visited sites in the world. Learn how this Greco Roman city was frozen in time when the eruption of Vesuvius caught the residents under a blanket of ash as they tried to flee. Now an open-air museum, you can walk through the former city streets and see the perfectly preserved remains uncovered by excavations.
Next, you're off for lunch and sightseeing in the coastal village of Sorrento, overlooking the Bay of Naples. In the afternoon, continue to Mount Vesuvius, brooding and hissing over the Bay of Naples. You will climb to the summit, zigzagging along paths of volcanic gravel and taking in the views.
Your walk concludes at the most dramatic point when you reach the crater; but we won’t abandon you to the elements! Descend Vesuvius and your driver will return you to the Port of Naples for the end of the tour.
