Start at Pompeii, where you can skip the ticket line before your guided walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With your guide, inspect well-preserved ruins, artworks, mosaics and frescoes, including the Roman Forum, and Temple of Apollo. Even glance at plaster casts of people in the city at the time of Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79.
Exit the archeological site with your guide and enjoy some free time to wander around Pompeii town or grab some lunch.
Next up is Mount Vesuvius. Skip the majority of the arduous climb, with your vehicle taking you 1000m up the volcano.
From there, enjoy a 30-minute walk to the crater’s edge, where you’ll have some free time to explore. Take the opportunity to savor and photograph unforgettable views over the whole of the Bay of Naples from here.
Look out for the official alpine guides at the summit who can share the volcano’s turbulent history with you.
The day trip ends with a transfer back to Naples or Sorrento.
