Highlights of Naples

Snuggled into the coast of Campania with an urban area incorporating four million inhabitants, Naples is one of Europe's best-kept secrets.

  • Naples: Amalfi Coast

    1. Naples: Amalfi Coast

A true jewel of the Mediterranean, a drive along the Amalfi Coast will dazzle you.

  • Pompeii & Herculaneum

    2. Pompeii & Herculaneum

Experience the haunting ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, plunged into death and destruction by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79.

  • Teatro di San Carlo

    3. Teatro di San Carlo

Naples' opera house's programme is diverse, with ballet shows taking place between April and June, too. Even if opera and ballet are not your thing, the house is lovely to behold.

  • 4. National Archaeological Museum

If you are a classical history buff, you've come to the right place. See statues and artwork depicting the beginnings of Europe's rich heritage.

  • Gesu Nuovo

    5. Gesu Nuovo

The unusual architecture of this church of "New Jesus" dates from the year 1470. It also faces one of Naples' main squares. The inside of the church is also worth a look for its frescoes!

  • Castel dell'Ovo

    6. Castel dell'Ovo

Located on the peninsula of Megaride, the "Egg Castle" dates back to Roman times and has since seen it all: Norman, Saracen, Spanish, and French invaders. See it as part of a wider tour of Naples to understand its history.

Planning Your Visit

  • How long should I stay in Naples?

Four days or so should cover the basics - take out whole days for trips outside of Naples, such as to Pompeii and Herculaneum.

  • How walkable is Naples?

Pretty walkable, especially in the city center. There is also a transit system serving the whole metropolitan area, including a funicular taking you up into the hills.

  • When should I visit Naples?

All year round, but go between October and March to avoid crowds and very warm weather.

  • Anything else I should know?

In Italy, some stores and other attractions are closed at lunchtimes or in the afternoons, so double check before you set out somewhere.

Milly the tour guide was absolutely fantastic. Very personable, knowledgeable and a fantastic storyteller. I learnt heaps and I saw lots of new things that I hadn’t seen in my other visits to Naples. I highly recommend this tour especially if it’s with Milly.

It was fantastic, it was three of us of different ages and we all deeply enjoyed. It was the right length, content, pitch--the guide Ilaria was very well prepared, with excellent material, funny and humorous at the right level. Highly recommended!!

Our Driver Paulo was great and patient. Our tour guide Iliria in Pompeii was so knowledgeable and again so patient with our 3 year old. Definitely recommend this day trip to anyone and everyone! Wonderful memories made here!

Wonderful tour that really made you feel like you weren't missing out delivered by friendly and consummate professionals!

Great meal, great context and transport to the site with great weather to top it off. Everything went excellent.
