It was not too warm. Cycladic winds blowing. Easy transfer to Delos by boat from Mykonos Old Port. A major part of us booking this is fact you get your own hearing device to hear the guide speak. But our guide Athena had not tested her system so the listening devices did not work! Given there were around 25 people in our Group, this proved a problem! Our guide tried her best to shout the information. But for €60 per person (no refunds!) all very amateurish on the tech front! Delos is no Ephesus or Aphrodisia - but has enough to see - the lions and broken giant phallus were interesting.

Delos is an amazing site and not to be missed. The ferry to the island was easy and part of the fun. Our guide Athina was also wonderful - very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, a good communicator and well organized. Our only disappointment was in the poor performance of the listening technology (the “whisper” devices). Reception was very poor, and our guide’s explanation and direction was almost completely lost for much of the trip. The only real solution was to stand very near her and listen unaided by the device. This was very difficult (especially to do it politely) in a big group. Even though the tour was excellent in all other ways, a private tour (much more expensive) might have been the only way to eliminate this problem.

Great day and very informative. Our tour guide was a former director of the archeological team so we felt like we won the lottery. “Whisper” earpieces were very helpful but not quite powerful enough to get a good signal if one lagged toward the back of the group. The group was large and necessarily got spread out when navigating narrow ancient streets so you have to keep up close to the front to be able to hear everything that was said (to be fair, our guide waited for the group to congregate before describing the major elements - but folks at the back missed a lot of the ancillary commentary as we walked).
