Full description
Explore the island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Discover the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and the center of the Cyclades in ancient times. Located just a 45-minute boat ride from Mykonos, Delos is one of the most sacred sites in Greece. It was the center of the Cyclades islands in the ancient world and the birthplace of the Greek gods Apollo and Artemis. Due to its mystical location, the island became home to the first multicultural civilization and was an important trade center in Ancient Greece. Despite its diminutive size, there is a lot to see. Inhabited between 2,500 and 69 BC, Delos boasts many antique treasures, such as the Agora (ancient market place), the famous Terrace of the Naxos Lions and the Sacred Lake. See the living quarters and theater that provide visitors to Delos with a unique vision of daily life in Ancient Greece. In 1990 Delos was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List for its "exceptionally extensive and rich" archaeological finds, which "convey the image of a great cosmopolitan Mediterranean port." Exploring the houses of Dionysus, Cleopatra, the Trident, the Masks and the Dolphins, with their beautiful mosaics, is a thrilling experience for art lovers and not to be missed by even the mildly curious. With an expert guide to provide you with a lively narrative, you will also explore the Temple of Isis, the Egyptian Goddess, the Roman water system, the fascinating cisterns and much more. Visit the museum and see the breathtaking mosaics, statues and other artifacts found during the on-going excavations. Walk up Mount Kynthos, which at 367 feet (112 meters) is the highest mountain on the island, to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding Cycladic islands. Then return to the old pier at Mykonos Town for the end of your tour.

This is a must visit place for anyone who has the slightest interest in Ancient Greek history. With a good guide (we had a very good guide) you can feel like you are back in the ancient times when Delos was a thriving metropolis. Tips for traveler. It helps if you read up a bit on Delos history before going there to understand the significance of the place. If it is summer it is important to go on a windy day or else the sun can be oppressive. Try to go on a evening tour if available as well as the morning tour

The excursion was wonderful, very informative and enjoyable. The process to confirm the day before was complicated and we needed local help and they too had an involved time confirming. The local office information was not up to date and they had to make about 4 phone calls until we reached the appropriate party.

Insightful trip

Delos Island was very good and our tour guide was so beautiful and knowledgeable. She explained us about the island's heritage by guiding us throughout the old city. The staff members were also quick to respond to queries, if not for the prompt e-mail replies, I would've missed my Ferry. Thanks !!
