What to Expect
The former capital of Oman, discover the more primitive Nizwa in contrast to the modern city of Muscat. Pass impressive lanscapes on the drive from Muscat and take a photo stop in the pretty village Birkat al Mauz or enjoy a short walk through the oasis and its dense date plantations.

The fort in Nizwa, the foot of the city since the 17th century, invites you on a journey of discovery. The fortress is particularly impressive due to its sheer size and its exceptional preservation. Surrounded by all kinds of shops and impressive examples of Omani craftsmanship, enjoy the opportunity to admire the handiwork of the Omani artisans. The souk of Nizwa is famous for silversmith art as in the creation of traditional khanjars (curved daggers), pottery, and leather work. On Fridays, you can even experience the hustle and bustle of the famous cattle market, where traders from the surrounding area offer their cattle for sale and trade in a dynamic fashion.

Journey through the Wadi Tanuf and further along historical ruins, old houses, and breathtaking nature to Bahla and a fort under the protection of UNESCO. This fortress dates back to the time before the Islamization of Oman and is a magnificent example of traditional architecture in the country. Only a few kilometers away, the Jabreen Castle housed the former ruling family. Admire the luxurious decorations and elaborate carvings that make the visit an truly unforgettable experience.

At the end of the tour, reminisce about your experiences of the day on the way back to Muscat before being dropped off at your hotel.
