Hitler called Munich "Die Hauptstadt der Bewegung‟ (the Capital of the Movement). On this 3-hour walking tour, we examine the streets where some of the darkest moments in human history occurred, moments that together set the stage for Hitler's reign.
What to Expect
The city of Munich and its environs were central to the rise to power of the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. On this 3-hour walking tour, we examine the infamous period of history from the perspective of what occurred in Munich.
During the tour, we ask how a nation of people known for their level-headed thinking allowed what is perhaps the greatest tragedy of the 20th Century to happen and how the world lay sleeping while the Nazis built their war machine and solidified power.
After WWII, Munich was almost completely destroyed by Allied bombings but emerged from the rubble to be restored to its former glory. But the scars still remain. During the tour, our expert guides reveal the traces of the past and the irrevocable footprints of Nazi rule still visible today and discusses the question: could it happen again?
