Full description
This trip will take you through the picturesque foothills of the Bavarian Alps. You'll be able to see the enchanting Chiemsee, also called the "Bavarian Sea," which, with an area of nearly 80 km², is the largest lake in Bavaria. In Salzburg, the city of Mozart, you will have around 2.5 hours to see the city's impressive buildings, take in the vistas, and wander through the beautiful Baroque old town. Of particular note are, for example, the Hohensalzburg fortress and the birthplace of Mozart. The cathedral, Hellbrunn Palace, and the fountains are not to be missed. The old town offers many other worthwhile attractions, from fine boutiques and culinary delicacies to art, culture, and all else the heart could desire. The next part of the tour takes place in the summer only (from April until November): The tour will then take you onwards through the Salzkammergut to the Wolfgangsee. There you will have the chance to take a boat trip to St. Wolfgang, to the Hotel zum Weißen Rössl, and to visit the pilgrimage church. There is one more exciting highlight waiting for you on the return journey : a stop at the Mondsee, a location for the film "The Trapp Family." Be enthralled by this tour to Salzburg and the Salzkammergut. If you're visiting during the winter (from November to April), instead of the visit to St. Wolfgang you'll get to enjoy more time in Salzburg. During December you'll also be able to visit the Christkindlmarket.

A full on busy day which I would describe as a taster visit, allowing you time to appreciate rather than absorb everything in Salzburg. The trip on the boat is extra & is definitely worth it. PAUL was an excellent guide being both entertaining & informative; his whistle stop walking tour around Salzburg really did help get the most out of the trip.

Paul was a good tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about all of the places we went. Paul is multilingual and tries his best to keep his guests entertained. I felt the Tour company tries to pack too much into one day which really limits you from experiencing the places you're going to visit. Salzburg is a beautiful city, but 2hrs is just not enough to really see the city.

I had the best time on this tour! Salzburg was wonderful, it would have been nice to have an hour more of free time to explore but I still got to see and do a lot. The scenic drive through the Bavarian and Austrian Alps was gorgeous in itself. Wolfgangsee Lake and the lakes region was absolutely breathtaking. It felt exactly like being in Switzerland. We not only had the opportunity to go on a boat tour but also had some free time to explore the town of St. Wolfgang. Before going on this tour, I had researched the places we were going, but the pictures online do not do these places justice. I was blown away along the entire trip. I definitely recommend this tour the next time you visit Munich. Side note: Bring lots of cash! Not only for the boat tour but for Salzburg and St. Wolfgang themselves. Especially coins if you plan on using the public bathrooms in Austria.
