From Nairobi: TRIP TO MOUNT LONGONOT NATONAL PARK

Your adventure begins with pickup you from your Nairobi hotel/residence at 6:00AM. After driving for approximately 1 hour, you will begin the ascent at 6,000 feet. Like all good uphill hikes it will lull you into a sense of false security with a slow gentle rise to the first peak. This will give you the chance to get your lungs and limbs freed up for the second section, which is the best section. At the end of each section there is a rest point where you can prepare yourself for the next part of your journey. You will have started early to avoid the heat of the sun, but by the time you reach the end of the second section you will have generated plenty of your own heat. This hike is not an easy hike, but is achievable by people of average fitness. Your guide will accompany you all the way to the top. The whole tour is only about 8–9 kilometers long but very steep, so that the round-trip from the park gate to Longonot Peak takes around 4 hours. At the conclusion of your tour you will have an optional visit to Lake Naivasha for a sunset boat ride to see hippos, before your return drive to Nairobi with drop-off at your hotel or airport.

Great day hiking up Mount Longonot. Good communication and transport and the guide Dominik knows all the good spots for photos and the stories to tell along the journey. He let me hike at my own rhythm (it took me a bit more than 6 hrs to complete the journey - I consider myself having an above average fitness - make sure you bring enough water and no plastic bottles are allowed in the park - I used a 3l camelbag and I ran out of water just as we were starting the descent back to the main gate - phew!). I didn’t do the optional boat tour as I had done it before but highly recommend it!

Probably one of the best hikes I’ve done in a while. The landscapes are breathtaking, so lush and wild. The view of the crater is mind-blowing and if you are lucky you can see some wildlife around (zebras, giraffes…). Jimmy and Dominic were the best, very knowledgeable, kind and funny! Loved spending the day with them. Would 100% recommend

Our driver Peter and guide Dominic were very helpful and we had an absolutely fun day, with a hike at Mt Longonot and a boat safari on Lake Naivasha. Will definitely try to finish the 7.2 km hiking around the crater next time!

Everything went smooth, great trip, good guide. Unforgettable experience!
