Day tour to two of the most beautiful cities of the Golden Ring of Russia - Vladimir and Suzdal
What to Expect
In the morning a driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the railway station in Moscow where you will get on a high-speed train to Vladimir. The train trip takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. Upon arrival in Vladimir you will be met by your guide and a driver. During the excursion around Vladimir you will see all the main sights of the city including:

Dormition Cathedral - the city’s main cathedral and an outstanding example of Russian architecture which pre-dates the Mongol invasion. It was the principal place of worship of the Vladimir-Suzdal Grand Principality and is one of just a few cathedrals where frescos by the master icon painter Andrey Ryublev have been preserved.

St Demetrius’ Cathedral - this 12th century cathedral is famous for its stone engravings which decorate its exterior. (Closed on Tuesdays)

Golden Gates – these gates, which were built in the mid-12th century, served as the main entrance into the historical centre of the city.

After the excursion in Vladimir you will be taken to Suzdal – a small but beautiful city where the charm and simplicity of the 19th century have been preserved. It takes around 35 minutes to get there by car.

The city is often described as an open-air museum and one of the most beautiful and popular cities on Russia’s Golden Ring tourism route. Here you can see the real Russian countryside where small houses stand alongside beautiful churches and monasteries.

On the excursion around Suzdal you will see:

Suzdal Kremlin – this is the historical centre of the city where the main cathedral still stands – the 15th century Nativity Cathedral. It was here that the sons of Prince Yuri Dolgoruky and the princes of Suzdal were buried. Inside the cathedral you will see the ancient doors which are wonderfully decorated and gilded.(Closed on Tuesdays)

Spaso-Yefimiev Monastery – this is the largest monastery in the city and often mistaken for the Kremlin, due to its large walls and towers.

Museum of Wooden Architecture – this is one of the best museums of wooden architecture in Russia. Many unique wooden buildings, including houses, windmills and chapels, have been brought here from all over the Vladimir Region for preservation.(closed on Wednesdays)

Trading Rows – this structure was built in the imperial architectural style to hold over 100 stalls for merchants. Today it still holds shops and you can buy souvenirs here.

Evening transfer to the Vladimir Railway Station from where you will catch the high-speed train to Moscow. Upon arrival at 22:00 in Moscow, you will be met by a driver who will take you back to your hotel.
