Departing from Maun in the early morning, we will pick you up form your hotel before heading to Moremi Game Reserve. Moremi Game Reserve is about 100km from Maun, and you can expect to spend 5 to 6 hours of the day on a safari game drive. We offer tea, coffee, packed breakfast and lunch, bottled water and soft drinks. The Moremi Game Reserve covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta. In Moremi, one gets marvelous views of savannah game — lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, wild dogs, and a wide variety of birds. A surprising amount of game can be viewed on these trips. From mid May to end of September our trips start at 6:30am and return at 6:30pm, the rest of the year they start at 6:00am and return at 7:00pm. Warm clothes are necessary during the winter months and rain gear during the rainy season (late November to late March). After passing through the “Buffalo Fence” an hour out of Maun you will enter some of the top wildlife areas that Botswana has to offer. Your guide will stop a little before we reach the park gate in order to have tea, coffee and a light breakfast. At around 1:00pm your guide will pick a scenic spot for you to have a delicious packed lunch. We also supply a cooler box with ice for any extra drinks you may wish to take.

The park also contains more than 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered, and is excellent for birdwatching. With the help of your guide, search for and view as much game as you can. Stop at another scenic location for lunch and continue your game viewing while eating. After lunch, head back out on your game drive until it is time to return to Maun. Upon arrival in Maun, you will be dropped off at your preferred stop.

However it is the great diversity of plant and animal life that makes Moremi Game Reserve so well known and increasingly more popular every year. The Moremi Game Reserve covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta. A surprising amount of game can be viewed on these trips. Before you have lunch at just around 1100am you will do 1 hour boat cruise at Moremi Xakanaxa. At around 1:00pm your guide will pick a scenic spot for you to have a delicious packed lunch. We also supply a cooler box with ice for any extra drinks you may wish to take. Moremi is one of the accessible areas with amazing wildlife, animals and bird species. The wildlife highlights differ from day to day and amongst them are leopards, lions, wild dogs, kudus, waterbucks, elephants, buffaloes, impalas. Birdlife is quite amazing in the area with birds such as secretary bird, hornbill, lapwing, vulture, African jacana, African fish eagle, hamerkop, and crested crane amongst many other species. After a game drive in the reserve, you will be transferred back to Maun and dropped off at your place of accommodation.

Head back to Maun in late afternoon after a full and exciting day immersed in nature.

You'll arrive into northern Botswana at Maun Airport, the nearest international airport to the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve. From here, you'll take a roughly 30-minute light aircraft flight to your accommodation at Pom Pom Camp. This is an intimate, eco-friendly camp right in the heart of the Delta. It has just nine luxury safari tents and has great wildlife viewing particularly for lions and leopards. Watch hippos splash in the lagoon, enjoy sundowners and relax by the campfire. You'll stay in one of Pom Pom Camp's nine Meru-style tents, secluded in the shade of trees (there is also a family tent, close to the main lodge). Pom Pom Island is the perfect place to start your exploration of the delta, paddling from island to island. Spot wildlife drinking or swimming in the water, go on game drives and try your hand at birdwatching. You may be lucky enough to spot beautiful bird species such as the pied kingfisher, African jacana or rare Pel's fishing owl. The wildlife viewing should be incredible from this camp. Seeing the ‘Big Five’ although elephants, lions, leopards and buffalo abound in Botswana, rhinos are a little harder to come by. They were poached out of the country completely and only recently, since the early 2000s have they started to be reintroduced into protected areas in the Delta. They are doing well and they are dispersing widely, however, it is still a very lucky sighting to have. After a final morning game drive at Pom Pom Camp, you'll take a short flight to the Khwai Concession, located in the greater Okavango Delta region, where you'll be staying at Machaba Camp for the next three nights. Head out on safari this afternoon to explore this new area and in the evening, enjoy a gin and tonic overlooking the river. Then you'll retire to your Meru-style tent. It is a lovely small camp with just eight rooms and two family units. With Moremi Game Reserve to the south and Chobe National Park to the east, the wildlife in this concession is really reliable and productive as it is in between two of the most iconic wildlife areas in Botswana. It is also a really beautiful concession, with a mixture of stunning channels, floodplains and mature woodlands, making this area a rich and diverse habitat for a wide range of species. In particular, the reserve is noted for its huge herds of elephants and buffalo and there are reliable sightings of wild dogs.+-

Below is a sample itinerary for each day of the tour: Early mornings are quite ideal for bird watching. As we have over 400 species of birds, grab your binoculars and get ready to explore. From bird watching to tracking animals, be prepared for an up-close experience with our wildlife. We will break off for a light lunch and make some rounds in search of some animals, passing through lagoons and pools along the river channels as well as flat plains. We will then make our way back late afternoon as we reflect on our sightings. Rise and shine to a warm delicious breakfast before we head out to exploring more of the renowned Moremi Game Reserve for some great game viewing We will arrive back in Maun in time to catch you flight. It is at this point that you will experience a great deal of fulfillment coupled with feelings of sadness for not only are you bidding goodbye to the wilderness that you had just become a part of, but also bidding farewell to a family that you have spent 3 days with. Day 1 We will depart from Maun at 0700hrs and head to CKGR to set camp in the Deception valley. We should reach CKGR in 2 hours. During and shortly after good summer rains (September to January), the flat grasslands of the reserve’s northern reaches teem with wildlife, which gather at the best grazing areas. These include springbok and gemsbok, as well as wildebeest, hartebeest, eland and giraffe. At other times of the year, when the animals are more sparsely distributed, the experience of travelling through truly untouched wilderness, of seemingly unending dimensions, is amazing. We will arrive at camp to have lunch and enjoy an afternoon siesta. We will head out for an evening game drive & sunset within the Deception Valley. Upon return to the camp, you will be treated to a hot camp shower before proceeding to dinner around a campfire. You will then retreat to your 3.2 x 3.2m tent equipped with a stretcher bed, a veranda and an attached bathroom with flush-able toilet, shower and sink. Day2 Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh morning over coffee/tea and rusks for a 0630hrs morning game drive to Sunday Pan waterhole, and have brunch at Passarge Valley. Under the dense umbrella thorn Acacia tortillis thickets cheetah and lion rest up in the mid-day heat. CKGR boasts an amazing variety of birds, believe: Secretary bird, Kori Bustard and Ostrich are the most prominent of the species to be spotted, with good chances of seeing Lapped-faced Vulture and White-backed Vulture too. We will continue to explore this amazing landscape in search of its beauties. Our final leg of the morning drive will take us back through Leopard Pan to arrive at camp for lunch and enjoy an afternoon siesta. After a well deserved rest we will depart for an evening game drive to Deception Pan where we will enjoy a great sunset. Once the sun goes down we will head back to camp. Day 3 Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh early morning over coffee/tea and rusks! We will head out for a game drive at the crack of dawn with the hopes of spotting cheetah, a resident pride of lion and several leopard whose territories include parts of the pan. We will head back to camp around mid morning to enjoy warm shower before a scrumptious breakfast. Once we have had breakfast we will embark on our vehicle for a leisurely drive back to Maun. The reserve might have little farewell surprises as we drive back “home” so keep those cameras ready to capture the last memories of the Kalahari. We will enjoy the leisurely drive as we continue our learning about this reserve and its beauties, mostly very unique. We anticipate to arrive in Maun mid afternoon, depending on what we spot along the way. You will be transported to your hotel or start another tour to either Moremi Game Reserve or Okavango delta, both highly recommended destinations to augment the Kalahari experience.
