You don't need wings to have a stunning 360-degree bird's-eye view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. All you need is a ticket to the roof terrace…
Top sights in Paris
At a height of 210 meters, the Montparnasse Tower is Paris' tallest building, and yet its spectacular panoramas over the city remain a surprising touristic secret. Here are five things not to miss from the tower's observation deck!
Imagine spending an afternoon in queues just to get a view of Paris without its most iconic landmark. That's what you'll get at the Eiffel Tower, not at Montparnasse!
The tower boasts a gorgeous view of the Luxembourg Gardens, but better still is the breathtaking perspective directly over the famous cemetery where Samuel Beckett was buried.
It'll take the clearest of days, but with a little luck you'll be able to see airplanes flying in and out of Paris' southernmost airport!
To see the lights flicker on across the city, the charm of the Sacré-Cœur takes some beating. But for the view alone, the Montparnasse Tower offers the best in Paris!
If you do visit the tower after dark, turn your back on the usual landmarks for a minute to watch illuminated trains leave Gare Montparnasse toward Paris' southern suburbs.
Between April 1st to September 31st, the tower is open daily from the hours of 9:30AM to 11:30PM. The rest of the year it is open 9:30AM to 10:30PM from Sunday to Thursday, and stays open until 11:00PM on Saturdays and the eves of major holidays. Book your tour tickets online to avoid queues!
You'll see more on a clear day so check the weather forecast first. Consider having dinner at the Ciel de Paris restaurant on the 56th floor, or go on a Friday night in summer to enjoy live music from 7:00PM on the roof terrace bar!
The closest Metro station is Montparnasse-Bienvenüe, on lines 4, 6, 12, and 13.

What people are saying about Montparnasse Tower
the sunset view was amazing, but as it was my partner's birthday I expected to be able to get a chair for us at least so we could have some cocktail , mocktail as I am pregnant as well we had to stand instead so we could at least get some nice pictures of the sunset. there are not enough chairs for how many people they let in at once, and not enough areas where you could take a clear picture not through window glass.....all in all was ok, we had way better experience at the Sky garden in London, more places to sit and watch the sunset...
Had a problem getting in as the app tickets didn’t show a bar code which kept everyone behind us in the queue waiting. The lady in the kiosk on ground level passed us through but getting out of the lift a guy had to scan tickets. I opened to email and still no barcode. Then I randomly clicked on ‘print tickets’ and finally had an image with a barcode! We could only go to the observation level and not the roof as it was deemed to windy. But that was fine and is where the shop/ café/ loos are. Really good views but expensive.
Fantastic views of the city. The observation deck has been well designed with a glass wall but gaps in it to take unobstructed photographs. The glass wall is also good as it probably helps cut down the wind. If it gets cold you'll also find an indoor area just a bit lower down. Overall highly recommend.
The view from Montparnasse Tower is beautiful. I highly recommend visiting to watch the sun set over Paris. Once it's dark enough outside, the Eiffel tower lights up and every hour on the hour it puts on a little light show for a few minutes. Got some great pictures/videos here!
Very easy to find on the metro The views were spectacular especially as we went at sunset Great viewing from inside on the 56th floor & again outside on the 59th floor Great photo opportunities Great for a relax & refreshments All staff very helpful & pleasant
