With your audio guide, learn about the rich history of Montmartre from the 19th century and when it was annexed to the city of Paris. From this moment on, the city imposed itself on the countryside of Montmartre. Artists started to move to Montmartre in 1870 and the cafes and cabarets multiplied in the 1880’s. Montmartre quickly became a place filled with effervescent bohemian spirit and creative energy. The most celebrated cabaret, the Chat Noir, welcomed several performances of the Théâtre d’Ombres, shadow theatre, created in 1866 by Henri Rivière and Henry Somm. Theatre, music, circus and dance all had a role in Montmartre. All of Paris came to listen to Aristide Bruant or Yvette Guilbert recite their texts or attend a performance by La Goulue, La Môme Fromage ou Grille d’Egouts, 3 dancers at the Moulin Rouge. Toulouse-Lautrec was one of the more assiduous artists in representing these performances. This effervescent bohemian spirit was also present in the artists’ studios: 12 Cortot witnessed the passage of several, most of whom lovingly painted their residence.  The museum also offers temporary exhibitions. The guide, Adam is his name, was great, super personable!! He was funny, told us a lot about the sights. Not only listed facts, but told really interesting things!! He also referred to us as "Team Adam". We weren't just tourists, we were shown the city on a "personal level" that day. When we were in the Louvre, he asked us not only to photograph the Mona Lisa, but to really give us time to look at the painting. We queued as a group and should make sure we stay as a group and not "one here...some there". Adam is a great guide and he is super good with people. He gets 12 out of 10 points from me.

This was the Highlight of our Paris trip. Vivien & Charlotte (2CV) arrived on time and was so friendly, informative and showed us exactly what we wanted to see and things we didn't even know about (The Wall of Love) Would highly recommend.

The visit of the covered passages of Paris was super pleasant and interesting. Our passionate guide Sophie transported us to the past with her stories. It is preferable to do this visit with a guide I recommend 100%

Enjoyed the history and the interesting nooks and crannies of this beautiful neighborhood. Guide was fun, entertaining and kept it moving along.
