Milford Sound is well worth a visit. There are a number of boats all doing the same route but they space themselves out well so there is an amazing sense of space and an opportunity pot appreciate the beauty of the fjord. The boat was small compared with some others. It was not crowded on the day I went so there were plenty of opportunities to take pictures. It rained on the day I went, as it does on many days. The rain meant there were a lot of temporary waterfalls flowing into the fjord. While we may have missed out on some views we had the benefit of the extra falls, so it is still worth going even if showers are forecast. We saw a beautiful rainbow on the way back.

I can highly recommend Mitra peak cruises! They were very attentive to our children and made sure they were entertained, even when their parents were busy looking at the fantastic scenary:) The smaller ship made it possible to go into narrow places to view new born seals and take a waterfall ‘shower’

Milford Sound, a must on every bucket list for a stay with the "Kiwis" :-) on the South Island. Take one day for the journey and only drive if the weather forecast is at least good. Otherwise, you have no fun. We were there pretty early and already on the way back from the sound the wind and the gullies got stronger again.
